Students at Hartford Public High School believe access to nutritious food is a basic human right and are raising awareness about Connecticut food assistance resources.
Working with researchers at the UConn Rudd Center and the Hispanic Health Council in the Adolescent Citizen Scientist Program, students, Jenny Velasquez (’26), Adriana Romero (’26), and Yari Rodriquez (’26) created a food resource guide to assist Connecticut students and families in accessing food.
The guide (available in English and Spanish) contains QR codes and links to easy-to-use online locators for food pantries, mobile food pantry trucks, and summer meal programs for kids 18 and under.
It also contains contact information for support in signing up for WIC and SNAP benefits!
